Privacy Policy
Effective October 22, 2026
This is an English translation of the Spanish original. If there is any difference between the two, the Spanish version prevails.
In short: we use your data only to make Leevo work: so you can sign in, read, do exercises, and so your teacher can see your progress. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and you can delete your account whenever you want.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of your personal data is Leevo, an educational platform for learning English through reading, based in Ecuador.
Privacy contact: englishleevo@gmail.com · WhatsApp +593 99 597 8699.
This policy is governed by Ecuador's Organic Law on Personal Data Protection (LOPDP) and its regulations.
2. What data we collect
| Data | From whom | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address and password | All users | To create the account, sign in and verify the email. The password is stored encrypted by our provider; nobody at Leevo can see it. |
| Account type (student, teacher, coordinator) | Everyone | To show each person the screens that apply to them. |
| Institution, classes you belong to, and class or institution codes used | Students and teachers | To place you in your class and school, and to keep each institution's data separate. |
| Access codes redeemed and when | Students | To unlock paid content and know how long it is valid. |
| Answers, grades, attempts, book progress, game scores, trophies and study statistics | Students | To grade exercises, show progress to the student and their teacher, award trophies and build the class ranking. |
| Teacher comments on assignments | Teachers | So students receive feedback. |
| Code purchase data (buyer's name, invoicing details and proof of payment) | Whoever buys codes | To deliver the codes, issue the invoice and meet tax obligations. |
| IP address and technical browser data | Everyone | Security: limiting repeated attempts (for example, guessing codes) and detecting automated access. |
| Messages you send us by WhatsApp or email | Whoever writes to us | To answer your question and provide support. |
We do not ask for or store: photos, location, the student's national ID number, health data or voice recordings.
3. Why we may use your data (legal basis)
- To provide the service that you or your institution requested (account, classes, exercises, grades and progress).
- With your consent, which you give when creating your account by accepting this policy. For minors, with the authorization of their legal representative (see section 4).
- Legitimate interest in keeping the platform secure and preventing abuse.
- Legal obligation, for example invoicing sales.
4. Children and adolescents
Many of our students are minors. Leevo is used mainly through educational institutions, and the institution is responsible for obtaining authorization from parents or legal guardians before its students use Leevo, under the agreement it signs with us.
When creating an account, a student under 18 declares that their institution or guardian authorized the registration. If a parent or guardian finds out that their child signed up without authorization, they can write to us and we will delete the account and its data.
We take extra care with minors' data: we collect only what is needed to study, we show no ads, we build no commercial profiles and we never share their data for marketing.
5. Who can see your data
Within Leevo:
- The student sees their own progress.
- The teachers and coordinator of your institution see the name, email, grades, progress and scores of their institution's students. One school cannot see another school's data.
- Classmates in the same institution see only the name and points in the game ranking.
- The Leevo administration team can access data to provide support, fix errors and produce general usage statistics.
Outside Leevo, only the providers we need to operate, who process data on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase): accounts, database, servers and website hosting.
- Google reCAPTCHA: checking that the website is used by a person and not an automated program.
- Google Fonts and public library servers (unpkg, cdnjs): downloading fonts and page components. They receive your IP address, as with any website.
- YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode): playing the videos in some lessons.
- Browser speech recognition: in pronunciation activities, your browser (for example, Chrome) may send the audio to its own provider to turn it into text. Leevo does not record or store that audio.
- MyMemory and Datamuse: translating words from the readings and showing synonyms. Only the word looked up is sent, no personal data.
- Google DNS: when you sign up, we check that your email domain (for example, gmail.com) can receive messages. Only the domain is sent.
- WhatsApp (Meta) and Gmail (Google): support messages you send us by WhatsApp or email go through these services, under their own terms.
We do not sell, rent or give your data to third parties for advertising. We would only hand it over to an authority if the law requires it.
6. International transfer
The Google servers where the data is stored are in the United States. Google applies security measures and internationally recognized data protection clauses. By using Leevo, you accept this transfer, which is necessary to provide the service.
7. How long we keep data
- Account and study data, for as long as the account exists.
- If you delete your account, we erase your profile, enrollments, grades, progress, scores, trophies and statistics. The access codes you used remain recorded as "deleted account", without your name or email, for sales control.
- We keep a record that you accepted this policy (date and version) so we can prove your consent.
- Invoicing data, for the time required by tax regulations.
- Security records (such as the IP address accounts are created from, which we use to stop automated sign-ups) are kept as a security record to prevent abuse. They are not used for any other purpose or shared.
8. How we protect your data
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, access rules that keep each institution's data separate, server-side verification of grades and scores, and protection against automated access. No system is perfect: if an incident affecting your data ever occurred, we would notify you and the authority within the time limits set by law.
9. Your rights
Under the LOPDP, you (or a minor's representative) have the right to:
- Access your data and know how we use it.
- Correct and update inaccurate data (you can change your name in "My account").
- Delete your data. Students, and teachers with no classes in their charge, can do it from My account → Delete my account. You can also ask us.
- Object to processing or ask for it to be suspended.
- Portability: receive your data in a format you can take to another service.
- Not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you. Automatic grading of exercises only reports your progress; the final assessment is made by your teacher.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, which means you stop using the platform.
To exercise them, email us at englishleevo@gmail.com from your account's email address and tell us which right you want to exercise. We will reply within 15 days. If you are not satisfied, you can file a complaint with Ecuador's Superintendency of Personal Data Protection.
10. Cookies and browser storage
Leevo does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We store in your browser only what is needed for the website to work and be fast: your signed-in session, language, light or dark mode, and temporary copies of content already downloaded. Google reCAPTCHA may use its own cookies to detect automated programs.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with its date. If the change is significant, we will notify you within the platform and, where the law requires it, ask you to accept it again.
12. Contact
For any question about your data: englishleevo@gmail.com · WhatsApp +593 99 597 8699.
